Plataine announces new version of its RFID-based Material & Asset Tracker (MAT) Software, bringing the world of Internet-of-Things (IoT) to Composite Parts Manufacturing

Plataine’s RFID based solution for real-time visibility and management of critical high-value mobile assets now leverages the Internet-of-Things to support Intelligent Automation for Manufacturing.

Waltham, MA – Plataine Inc., an award-winning leading provider of Internet-of-Things (IoT) based, Intelligent Automation software solutions for Composites Structure Manufacturers of various industries such as Aerospace, Transportation and Wind Energy, is pleased to announce the release of ver.3.0 of its Total Production Optimization (TPO) Material & Asset Tracker (MAT).

TPO MAT allows management and operators real-time visibility of critical high-value mobile assets such as: composite raw material (pre-preg rolls, tapes and fiber, dry materials and resins), kits, assemblies, tools and staff. TPO MAT utilizes RFID tags, affixed to the monitored assets to support production processes and allow for automated data collection and optimized software driven decision making, as well as analytics and continuous improvement.

“Plataine is proud to offer TPO MAT with the Internet-of-Things (IoT) that leverages RFID and mobility technologies as basis for optimized software-driven decision making” says Avner Ben-Bassat, Plataine’s President & CEO. “For the first time, composite part manufacturers are offered not only automatic data collection and digital tracking of all assets on a single platform, but also access to real-time information, and – most important – context-aware software that enables alerts and data driven optimized actions. The innovative solution enables OEMs and fabricators alike to further push the productivity envelope. The new version expresses Plataine’s commitment and dedication to constantly seeking new technologies to meet the unique challenges facing composite part manufacturers “, Ben-Bassat adds.

Plataine’s patented production optimization and automation solutions process all production and engineering data in a single decision-making framework in real time. Its core product, TPO (Total Production Optimization), offers manufacturers an end-to-end solution that optimally selects raw material and utilizes remnants, generates cut-plans and nests, uses RFID technology to track fabrication, assembly processes and other production floor activities, and provides management reports for analysis and future plans, while keeping full traceability of product and material genealogy. The solution takes into consideration multiple factors such as customer requirements, materials shelf life, geometric part-files, inventory on hand, order delivery date and machine capabilities & availability. The software supports various data collection methods (i.e. passive/active RFID, temperature sensors, barcode scanning, as well as data from existing legacy systems). Plataine’s solutions are cloud-based and are offered on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) basis, minimizing upfront costs and allowing a considerably faster ROI.

Plataine has partnered with a range of RFID technology providers for the technology underlying the tracking capabilities, with Siemens PLM to integrate the solution with their core Teamcenter platform, as well as with mobility platform providers bringing novel applications to the hands of production floor staff and management.
